Málaga coach criticizes refereeing: “At Real Madrid, they get a foul even if we sneeze”

Real Madrid needed only half an hour to put Málaga out of reach, scoring three times before settling into a comfortable 4-0 victory at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The result gave Madrid a third consecutive league win. Málaga struggled to contain the hosts’ early pressure, while Real controlled the match after building its decisive lead.

Juan Francisco Funes, Málaga’s 43-year-old coach, said the game had been extremely difficult and focused part of his post-match comments on the refereeing. He acknowledged that José Mourinho’s team had been better, but made clear that he was unhappy with the decisions.

“I don’t want to focus on the referee because Real Madrid win because they are much better than us, but it seems that if we sneeze, it’s a foul for them, and if the reverse happens, blood has to be spilled before he blows the whistle,” Funes said.
