Malaysia to Replace B40-T20 Income Classifications with New Socioeconomic Model

Malaysia is embarking on a significant shift in how it categorizes its citizens socioeconomically, moving away from the familiar B40, M40, and T20 income brackets. The Ministry of Economy has announced that the new framework will be determined by "net disposable income after deducting essential living expenses," a move designed to offer a more precise and comprehensive understanding of household financial realities.

This innovative approach, centered around the "Worthy Basic Living Expenses" (PAKW) mechanism, is intended to replace the current income classifications.
