Malaysian Doubles Pairs to Clash for Korea Masters Title

Malaysian badminton fans will witness an all-Malaysian final at the Korea Masters as two national men's doubles pairs are set to clash for the title. The final will feature the reunited pair of Man Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik against the newly formed duo of Tee Kai Wun and Yap Roy King.

Man Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik, formerly a top-10 pair, had to work hard to secure their spot in the final. They overcame a spirited challenge from Japan's rising pair, Haruki Kawabe and Kenta Matsukawa, winning 18-21, 22-20, 21-18 in a 59-minute semifinal. This victory avenged their earlier loss to the Japanese pair at the Taiwan Open.

Despite the win, Man Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik's performance was described as far from convincing. The experienced pair, currently ranked 160th in the world, faced constant pressure from their opponents, who are ranked 63rd. Their past achievements did not seem to be a significant factor in this match.

Meanwhile, Tee Kai Wun and Yap Roy King advanced to the final without playing a point. Their Japanese opponents, Shuji Sawada and Daigo Tanioka, withdrew from the match, granting Kai Wun and Roy King a walkover. This sets up a unique final where both pairs are vying for their first title together in this Super 300 tournament.

In the men's singles event, Malaysia's Cheam June Wei's campaign ended after he lost to China's Zhu Xuan Chen in three sets. This marked June Wei's third consecutive defeat against the young Chinese player, bringing his head-to-head record to 0-3.
