Malaysian Government Urged to Reintroduce Mandatory Engineering Fee Scale | Utusan Malaysia

The Malaysian government faces renewed calls to mandate the Engineering Fee Scale for all consulting engineering firms. Datuk Ir. Wan Nazari Wan Jusoh, chairman of the Malaysian Bumiputera Consulting Engineers Association (PJPBM), argues that reinstating the scale is crucial for ensuring fair and healthy competition within the engineering services sector.

According to Utusan Malaysia, PJPBM believes that the mandatory application of the Engineering Fee Scale will prevent undercutting and promote ethical business practices among firms. This move is seen as vital for protecting the interests of local consultants and maintaining the quality of engineering services provided across the country.

In addition to the fee scale, PJPBM is also pushing for the standardization of contract structures for engineering works. This aims to create a more transparent and equitable system for project tendering and execution. Wan Nazari emphasized that these measures are necessary to foster a more robust and competitive engineering industry in Malaysia, benefiting both practitioners and clients.
