Malaysian Singles Players Ready to Challenge at World Championships

The Malaysian national singles badminton players are well-positioned to compete at the upcoming World Championships in New Delhi, India, according to Kenneth Jonassen, the singles coaching director at the Badminton Academy of Malaysia (ABM).

Jonassen believes the recent Japan Open and China Open tournaments served as crucial platforms for the coaching staff to evaluate the players' performance. These events allowed them to pinpoint specific aspects that require further refinement before the most significant competition of the season.

Specifically addressing singles player Leong Jun Hao, Jonassen expressed satisfaction with his development, even though he was eliminated early in the Japan and China Opens. However, Jonassen stressed that both Leong and fellow player Justin Hoh have significant room for improvement if they aim to become consistent contenders on the international stage. "They are in a long-term process, and there are still standards that need to be incorporated into their training. We need to focus in detail to reach the highest level in the world," he added.
