Malaysians in Doha mark National Day with Jalur Gemilang flag-raising ceremony

Malaysia’s embassy in Doha brought Malaysians in Qatar together for a Jalur Gemilang flag-raising ceremony held late Sunday as part of National Day celebrations.

The event was also streamed online, allowing Malaysians across Qatar to follow and join the ceremony virtually. The embassy said the flag-raising represented Malaysia’s sovereignty, independence and shared identity, including for citizens living and working overseas.

The flag-raising ceremony symbolizes the sovereignty, independence and shared identity of Malaysians, including those who live and work abroad.

Malaysian Ambassador to Qatar Faizal Razali said the celebration was about more than remembering the country’s history. He said it also reflected the values that continue to unite Malaysians and expressed hope that the event would strengthen community ties and friendship with Qatar.

The embassy, working with the Malaysian Association in Qatar and the Malaysian community, is organizing a series of programs from August through September for National Day and Malaysia Day.
