Male Choir Serenades Landsbankinn on 140th Anniversary

Landsbankinn marked its 140th anniversary, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of TM Tryggingar, with a series of celebratory events held at its branches nationwide. The bank, which now incorporates TM Tryggingar, hosted a special program at 2:00 PM in all its locations, offering refreshments and musical performances to customers.

At the Grafarholt branch in Reykjavík, the bank invited the Grafarvogur Male Choir to perform. Approximately 30 members of the choir, led by its founder and conductor Íris Erlingsdóttir, delivered a musical program that was well-received by the bank's patrons. The performance began with the choir singing a "birthday song" specifically for Landsbankinn.

The choir's repertoire included several notable pieces. They performed "Fjallið Skjaldbreiður," set to lyrics by the national poet Jónas Hallgrímsson, and "Einbúinn" and "Samferða," both by the late Magnús Eiríksson. The program also featured "Ástarkveðja," a foreign song adapted to lyrics by Sigurður Helgi Guðnasonar. The final piece of the day was "Týnda kynslóðin," with both music and lyrics by Bjartmar Guðlaugsson.
