Man, 59, charged with murder after fatal fight at Lengkok Bahru

A 59-year-old man has been charged with murder in Singapore following a fatal fight that occurred at Lengkok Bahru on Monday. The suspect, identified as Ng Swee Seng, was apprehended at the scene after the altercation.

Ng was presented with a count of murder at the State Courts. Appearing via videolink, he stated through a Mandarin interpreter, "If I hear sounds, I will scold people," adding that he had heard a voice. He has been remanded for medical examination and is scheduled to return to court on August 12.

The police reported receiving calls for assistance around 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, also 59, lying motionless at a lift lobby on the 16th floor. The victim was transported to National University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Preliminary investigations indicate that Ng and the victim knew each other and were involved in a fight.

If found guilty of murder, Ng Swee Seng faces the possibility of the death penalty.
