Man Admits to Killing CEO of U.S. Health Insurance Giant

Luigi Mangione has admitted to the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson, the chief executive of UnitedHealthCare, the largest health insurance group in the United States. The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, when Mangione, 28, opened fire on Thompson, 50. Prosecutors have characterized the shooting as an act stemming from Mangione's profound opposition to the American health insurance system.
