Man Arrested After Attempting Scrap Metal Theft, Escaping Down 10-Meter Wall

Police in Ulsan, South Korea, have arrested a man in his 50s for attempting to steal scrap metal from a housing redevelopment area. The incident occurred late at night when the suspect entered a vacant building within the B-04 redevelopment zone in Jung-gu district.

Caught by management personnel, the man attempted a daring escape. He descended a 10-meter-high exterior wall by clinging to electrical wiring. However, his flight was short-lived.

Responding officers discovered a truck believed to belong to the suspect. An identification card found inside the vehicle allowed police to track him down and apprehend him at his residence. Authorities are investigating whether he was involved in other criminal activities and his motives for the attempted theft. The B-04 zone, a prominent redevelopment area in Ulsan, has many empty houses awaiting demolition, prompting police to increase patrols to prevent crime.
