Man arrested for arson in Troizina, suspected in nine other fires

Greek authorities have arrested a 40-year-old man in the Troizina region on suspicion of arson. The suspect allegedly intentionally set fire to a motorcycle around 4:09 a.m., causing the blaze to spread and damage two parked cars. Firefighters from Argolida, with assistance from the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes, apprehended the man shortly after the incident.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to the arson. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had prior encounters with authorities. According to information obtained by the fire service, the arrested individual is also being investigated for his potential involvement in nine other fire incidents that occurred between September and December 2024. These incidents involved fires at roadside embankments, garbage bins, and vehicles.

The fire service indicated that the case files for these nine suspected arsons are being linked to the man's involvement in the recent Troizina incident. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of his alleged criminal activities.
