Man Arrested for Assaulting Nurse, Abusing Doctor at Taiwan Hospital

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and detained for assaulting medical personnel at the emergency room of Fu Jen Catholic University Hospital. The incident occurred on July 15, when the man, identified as Zhang, verbally abused a doctor and kicked a female nurse in the abdomen.

Reports indicate that Zhang has a history of frequent emergency room visits, reportedly calling ambulances hundreds of times a year, yet often refusing medical checks and causing disturbances. Hospital staff attempted to wake him for further medical treatment when the assault occurred.

Surveillance footage confirmed Zhang's actions. Police apprehended him as a suspect caught in the act. He faces charges including violations of the Medical Treatment Act, defamation, and assault. The New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office successfully sought his detention, emphasizing the need to maintain safety in medical facilities and protect healthcare workers' rights.
