Man Arrested for Attacking, Threatening Ipoh Council Officer

Ipoh police have arrested a 42-year-old man suspected of assaulting and threatening a city council enforcement officer. The incident took place last Friday when the officer was on duty, issuing a compound notice on Jalan Pengkalan Barat 35.

The suspect allegedly became aggressive, attempting to hit the officer with his vehicle before pursuing him. He then reportedly grabbed the officer by the collar and issued threats. The officer sustained minor injuries and subsequently filed a police report.

Authorities apprehended the suspect on Monday to aid in the investigation. He is being investigated under sections of the Penal Code concerning criminal force against a public servant and criminal intimidation. Police are seeking a remand order to complete their investigation.

Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah, stated that police will not tolerate any individual who obstructs, attacks, or threatens public servants performing their duties.
