Man Arrested for Over a Year of Burglaries in Zaprešić; Tools Left at Scene

Police in Zagreb have concluded their investigation into a 45-year-old man, who had prior encounters with law enforcement, for a string of burglaries in Zaprešić. The suspect is believed to have committed four offenses, two of which were attempted, between January 2025 and May 2026.

The targeted locations included a health facility, a pharmacy, and a bookstore. In one incident on April 16, the man allegedly used tools to force open an entrance door to a health facility. Once inside, he pried open a vending machine and stole money. He returned to the same facility on May 30, again forcing entry and stealing cash from a vending machine. He then proceeded to force open the pharmacy door but left without taking anything.

Authorities suspect the man also attempted to break into a bookstore on the night of January 17-18, 2025, using tools on the entrance door. He left the tools at the scene after failing to gain entry. The total financial loss from these incidents is estimated at around 1460 euros. A special report has been filed with the state attorney's office.
