Man arrested for stabbing aunt and taking woman hostage in Bishkek

A 24-year-old man has been apprehended in Bishkek on suspicion of stabbing a female relative and subsequently taking a woman hostage. The incident began on the evening of June 11 when police received a report of a stabbing on Kara-Balta Street. Upon arrival, investigators determined that a woman, identified as A.A., born in 1953, had sustained a knife wound to the neck from her nephew, who then fled the scene. A criminal case for attempted murder was initiated. Law enforcement identified the suspect as B.R., born in 2002. Less than an hour later, police received a second report: a man was holding a woman hostage at knifepoint at the intersection of Zhibek Zholy Avenue and Ala-Archa Street. Patrol officers, with the assistance of bystanders, detained the suspect at the scene. It was confirmed that the man detained in the hostage situation was the same individual sought for the stabbing. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility, and necessary forensic examinations are underway as the investigation continues.
