Man arrested for throwing firecrackers at ex-wife's home amid family dispute

Authorities in Miaoli County, Taiwan, have arrested a 21-year-old man after he allegedly threw firecrackers at his ex-wife's residence late at night, causing distress to the occupants, including three young children.

The incident, which occurred in mid-March, is reportedly the result of ongoing disputes between the man and his ex-wife concerning financial matters and child visitation. According to reports, the man had a verbal altercation with his ex-wife's brother before proceeding to his ex-wife's home that night.

Online social media platforms circulated a video of the incident, with the poster claiming explosives were thrown at their home while three young children were inside. The man allegedly ignited firecrackers near two gas tanks outside the residence. Family members reported that the man had previously harassed the household, using threats related to child visitation as leverage.

Police identified the suspect, identified as Mr. Li, through surveillance footage. Although initially notified to appear for questioning, Li reportedly refused to cooperate. He was subsequently detained and has been transferred to prosecutors on charges including domestic violence and intimidation.
