Man arrested in Aydın after allegedly killing friend in Aksaray and fleeing

Authorities apprehended a suspect in Aydın who is accused of fatally shooting his friend in Aksaray before fleeing the scene. The suspect, identified as Gökhan Utlu, 39, was found hiding in a summer house in Aydın.

Utlu reportedly shot Mustafa Eriş, 61, in the head with a handgun on July 25. The incident occurred at Eriş's villa while the two were drinking with other friends. After the shooting, Utlu fled the scene, leaving Eriş critically injured. Police and medical teams responded to the scene, but Eriş was pronounced dead.

Following the incident, the Aksaray Police Department launched an investigation. Detectives tracked Utlu to a summer house in Didim, a district in Aydın. A police operation, involving special forces, led to Utlu's arrest. Upon his return to Aksaray, Utlu was questioned by authorities. He stated that he accidentally shot his friend while under the influence of alcohol and fled because he feared going to prison. A court has since ordered his detention.
