Man arrested in Ecatepec for attempted femicide; attacked pregnant partner with stabbing weapon

A man has been arrested in Ecatepec, Mexico, for attempted femicide after allegedly attacking his pregnant partner with a stabbing weapon upon learning of her pregnancy.

The suspect, identified as Omar Gerardo "N", was apprehended by agents from the State of Mexico's General Prosecutor's Office (FGJEM) and state security police. The incident reportedly occurred between August 17 and 18, 2025, in the Cipreses neighborhood of Ecatepec de Morelos. Authorities initiated an investigation after becoming aware of the events, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.

Omar Gerardo "N" has been transferred to the Chiconautla prison in Ecatepec, where he awaits a judge's decision on his legal status. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence of up to 46 years and eight months.

This arrest comes as Ecatepec implements a dry law and alcohol checkpoints for the Mexico vs. England match, aiming to enhance security and prevent accidents.
