Man badly burned in basement fire rescued by Munich firefighters

Firefighters rescued a 35-year-old man trapped in the basement of an apartment building in Munich after a fire broke out. He suffered burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to the shock room of a Munich hospital.

The man had called for help from the basement. When emergency crews arrived, smoke was already coming from the building. They brought him outside along with another resident who had tried to fight the fire using a water hose.

A 38-year-old woman living in the building also suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital. Police have taken over the investigation into the cause of the fire.
