Man dies after being hit by bus in Chiguayante

A man in his 40s died tragically after being struck by a public transport bus in Chiguayante. The incident occurred on Avenida Manuel Rodríguez, between Esperanza and Porvenir streets. Emergency services, including firefighters and health teams, rushed to the scene and attempted resuscitation for an extended period, but their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful in saving the man's life.

Daniel Carrillo, the local municipality's Director of Public Security, highlighted that the victim had crossed the avenue at an unauthorized location. "As a municipality, we call on those walking to use the designated crossings for avenues like this. The person (in this case) crossed in a non-designated area: through the central median," Carrillo explained. The municipality reiterated its appeal to pedestrians to adhere to traffic safety regulations and utilize only the marked crosswalks to prevent similar accidents.

The incident has prompted renewed calls for pedestrian safety awareness in Chiguayante, emphasizing the dangers of crossing busy roads outside of designated areas. Officials stressed the importance of following traffic rules to ensure the well-being of all residents.
