Man Dies After Being Shot in Estación Central

A man has died after sustaining a gunshot wound in the Estación Central commune of Santiago. The incident occurred around 2:45 AM on Alameda Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins.

The victim, identified as a Colombian national, had no criminal record. Preliminary investigations by the ECOH (Environmental, Social, and Cultural Heritage) unit are examining the possibility that the fatal shot was accidental, occurring amidst a fight between two groups.

Meanwhile, PDI Commissioner Juan Serena reported that "the victim, upon hearing gunshots and an altercation in the vicinity of the building, went outside and received a ballistic impact" to the chest area. The PDI's Homicide Brigade and Criminalistics Laboratory are continuing their forensic analysis to clarify the circumstances of the shooting.
