Man dies from injuries sustained in Dublin assault

A man in his 40s has died from injuries he sustained during a serious assault in Dublin city center earlier this week. The incident occurred on North Great Charles Street, Dublin 1, on Monday evening.

The victim passed away today at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital. Following his death, the office of the Coroner and the State Pathologist have been notified. A post-mortem examination is expected to be arranged in due course.

An investigation into the assault is now underway, led by a Senior Investigating Officer who has established an incident room at Mountjoy Garda Station. A Family Liaison Officer has also been appointed to support the deceased's family during this difficult time.

Gardaí are urging anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has any information to come forward. They are particularly interested in any road users or pedestrians who were in the North Great Charles Street area between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Monday. This includes delivery drivers, taxi drivers, and individuals with dash-cam footage, who are asked to make this available to the investigating officers.
