Man feared lost at sea in Turkey found safe by police

What initially appeared to be a tragic drowning case at Kızkalesi beach in Turkey's Mersin province took an unexpected turn when the missing man was found safe. Şeyho Canpolat had gone swimming on July 12 and failed to return, prompting his relatives to report him missing to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Authorities dispatched the Coast Guard Command, marine police, and divers to the scene. For two days, search teams scoured the waters off Kızkalesi and the coastline. Despite extensive efforts, their search yielded no results, leading to fears that Canpolat had drowned.

The mystery was resolved when police officers on patrol conducted a routine identity check on a man late at night. They discovered the individual was Şeyho Canpolat, the very person they had been searching for. Reports indicate Canpolat has psychological issues and had gone to a different location after swimming, rather than returning to his accommodation.
