Man in his 60s arrested for stealing aluminum frames from vacant house

A man in his 60s has been arrested and detained in Gwangju, South Korea, for stealing aluminum window frames from a vacant house in a redevelopment zone. The suspect, identified as Mr. A, faces charges under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes for theft.

According to the Bukbu Police Station in Gwangju, Mr. A allegedly broke into a vacant house in the Numun-dong area, a district undergoing redevelopment in Buk-gu, on August 8. He is accused of stealing approximately 10 kilograms of aluminum window frames, which he then sold.

Mr. A was apprehended by police during a patrol. When questioned, he reportedly stated that he committed the crime due to a lack of funds for living expenses. Police are currently investigating whether he has committed similar offenses in the past, as he has a record of similar crimes.

The incident highlights issues related to security in redevelopment areas, where vacant properties can become targets for theft. The police's ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the suspect's activities and potentially recover the stolen materials.
