Man in Malang arrested for ordering drug-laced candy from UK

Authorities in Malang, East Java, have arrested a man suspected of receiving a package containing illegal narcotics disguised as candy, shipped from the United Kingdom. The arrest is part of a larger effort by the Indonesian National Police's Directorate of Narcotics Crimes to combat drug trafficking.

The package contained three pouches with the brand AI, each containing 10 candies. After laboratory checks by Customs, it was found that the candies contained Class I narcotic substance delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol.

The operation began when customs officials flagged a suspicious package destined for an individual identified only as SH in Malang. Upon inspection, the package was found to contain three pouches of candy, branded 'AI,' each holding 10 candies. Subsequent laboratory tests confirmed the presence of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, a controlled narcotic substance.

The suspect has made four previous orders for packages containing narcotics.

Police conducted a controlled delivery of the package, leading to the apprehension of Abram Jetro Endiera, who admitted to ordering the contents. Investigations revealed that Endiera had previously placed at least four orders for similar items, including THC-infused candies and chocolate, all intended for personal use. The police are continuing their investigation into the source of these illicit goods.
