Man indicted for aggravated murder of food delivery person in Croatia

The County State's Attorney's Office in Šibenik has indicted Kristijan Aleksić, 50, for the aggravated murder of a 19-year-old in Drniš, an incident that occurred nearly three months ago. The indictment was filed on Monday following an investigation.

The County State's Attorney's Office in Šibenik, after conducting an investigation, has filed an indictment with the County Court in Šibenik against a Croatian citizen (born 1976) for the criminal offenses of aggravated murder... and illegal possession, manufacture, and acquisition of weapons and explosive substances...

According to the charges, Aleksić shot the young man, who was delivering food, and killed him at the scene. The indictment details that Aleksić, with the premeditated intent to take the life of the food delivery person, fired a shot from a firearm he had illegally manufactured and possessed. The victim, a 19-year-old Croatian citizen, died from the injuries sustained at the scene.

Prosecutors have requested that Aleksić be kept in investigative custody. They cited several reasons, including the risk of him fleeing, the possibility of him committing further crimes if released, and the necessity of his detention to ensure the unimpeded progression of the criminal proceedings. The nature of the crime, which carries a potential long-term prison sentence and involved particularly severe circumstances, also contributed to this request.

Aleksić faces charges for aggravated murder and for the illegal possession, manufacture, and acquisition of weapons and explosive materials. The incident occurred on May 16, 2026, around 11:00 PM in Drniš. The County State's Attorney's Office emphasized the severity of the case in its statement.
