Man injured by collapsing wall in under-construction building in Marousi

A man was injured when a section of a wall from an under-construction apartment building collapsed in Marousi, a suburb of Athens, on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred on G. Papandreou Street, where a dividing wall gave way, falling onto a neighboring residence.

The falling debris, including plaster and wall fragments, landed in the yard and on the roof of the adjacent house. The owner of the house was in his yard at the time of the collapse and sustained injuries to his legs. Emergency services, including police, were dispatched to the scene.

The injured man was transported by ambulance to the G. Gennimatas Hospital, where he received initial treatment. Doctors assessed his condition as not causing concern, indicating he is expected to recover.

For safety reasons, traffic on G. Papandreou Street was temporarily diverted from the intersection with Sappho Street. Police cordoned off the area, and engineers are expected to assess the structural integrity of the building. The collapse caused significant disruption and concern among local residents.
