Man killed after hunting gun goes off in Salyan

A hunting trip in Salyan district turned fatal when a 62-year-old man was killed by an accidental gunshot. Top Bahadur Pun Magar, a resident of Kalimati Rural Municipality-2, was participating in a hunting excursion with friends in the Dharani Community Forest when a muzzle-loading hunting gun went off, striking him in the abdomen.

The incident occurred on Friday evening. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Patali, chief of the District Police Office, Salyan, Pun Magar died at the scene. The exact circumstances leading to the discharge of the weapon remain unclear, as the group was reportedly large, making it difficult to immediately identify whose firearm caused the fatal injury.

In connection with the incident, police have apprehended six individuals who were accompanying Pun Magar. The arrested individuals have been identified as Juddha Bahadur Reule, Khagendra Bahadur Reule, Seturam Thapa, Kul Bahadur Budhathoki, Padam Bahadur Shirish Magar, and Man Bahadur BK. Authorities also seized guns from the group as part of the ongoing investigation.

A police team from the Area Police Office in Luham has been dispatched to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. Preparations are underway to transport Pun Magar's body to the Salyan District Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
