Man Poses as Client, Robs Brothel, Shoots Sex Worker in Buenos Aires

A man who posed as a client at a brothel in the Belgrano neighborhood of Buenos Aires has been charged with aggravated robbery, illegal firearm possession, and attempted homicide. Pablo Vicente Murúa, 47, allegedly entered the establishment on June 3, posing as a customer interested in sexual services.

After being led to a room with a sex worker, Murúa revealed a firearm and demanded money and cell phones from her and two other women present. He bound one of the victims with zip ties and covered her mouth with tape. When another sex worker attempted to escape and seek help from the building's superintendent, Murúa fired his weapon at her, narrowly missing her head.

The prosecutor's office has requested that Murúa be tried for these charges, disagreeing with a lower court's assessment that classified the shooting as a lesser offense. Prosecutors argue that the act of firing at the victim's head, coupled with his threat to kill her, clearly demonstrates an intent to commit homicide to ensure his escape and the successful completion of the robbery.
