Man sentenced to suspended jail time for drug and steroid offenses

A 45-year-old man from Diest has been sentenced to 20 months in prison, suspended, by the Leuven correctional court for the possession and sale of cocaine and anabolic steroids. The case came to light when investigators reviewing a suspect's mobile phone in a separate drug case discovered the Diest man's name.

The accused was no stranger to the judicial system, having already received convictions for drug trafficking in 2022 and 2023. Despite these prior offenses, the prosecutor noted that he continued to commit crimes, involving problematic use, possession, and sale of cocaine and anabolic steroids.

During the proceedings, the man admitted to supplying or selling cocaine to approximately ten individuals. Several buyers corroborated this during their interrogations, confirming they had purchased cocaine or growth hormones from the defendant. The man expressed remorse and requested a lenient sentence.

The court ultimately imposed a 20-month suspended prison sentence and an 8,000 euro fine, with half of the fine also suspended. The court's decision reflects the ongoing nature of his criminal activities despite previous convictions.
