More weapons found after deadly Overasselt shooting

Police found more weapons on Thursday as they continued investigating the deadly shooting in Overasselt in the Netherlands. Authorities have not said exactly where they discovered them.

Police had already found weapons in and around Overasselt on Wednesday. Following a tip, officers discovered a bag containing weapons in Wijchen and are examining whether those weapons are linked to Tuesday’s shooting.

The Public Prosecution Service also revised the number of arrests to 34, down from the previously reported figure of 35. It is not yet clear whether all the suspects will appear before a court. The group includes people from the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Algeria.

The municipality of Heumen said residents of Overasselt and Nederasselt can attend an informal meeting on Friday. The session is intended for people worried about their safety, seeking answers or experiencing tension after the recent violence.
