Man Summoned After Allegedly Beating Young Motorcyclist With Sandals and Helmet in Vung Tau

A man in Vung Tau allegedly forced a young motorcyclist to stop, then attacked him with his hands, a sandal and a motorcycle helmet.

The incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 on Hai Dang Street. The 23-year-old victim, identified as Đ.H.Đ from Lam Dong province, was traveling with three friends on two motorcycles toward Ha Long Street when the confrontation began.

According to the initial police findings, the man blocked the victim’s motorcycle and repeatedly pointed at and struck him. He continued beating him with a sandal and helmet after people nearby tried to intervene. The man also shouted insults before leaving the scene.

Vung Tau ward police in Ho Chi Minh City said they identified the suspect as Bui Van Dai, 49, who lives in Tam Thang Ward. Officers summoned him to the station for questioning and are continuing to compile evidence for further action under the law.

Police urged residents to resolve traffic disputes calmly, civilly and lawfully. They also called for strict handling of violent behavior that harms others and asked people to report public-order incidents rather than inflaming them or filming solely to attract online engagement.
