Man Utd to battle Arsenal for Osimhen

Premier League clubs Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly set to engage in a transfer battle for the signature of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. Both clubs have shown concrete interest in the Super Eagles forward ahead of the summer transfer window's closure, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Manchester United has initiated contact with Galatasaray to inquire about Osimhen's availability, though this approach does not confirm a bid or an imminent transfer. Manager Michael Carrick is preparing his squad for the upcoming 2026/27 Premier League season, which begins on August 22 with an away match against Hull City.

Arsenal, meanwhile, is rumored to be closer to securing a deal. Reports suggest that an offer exceeding £60 million could be sufficient to persuade Galatasaray to part ways with the striker. Arsenal reportedly explored Osimhen's situation during separate discussions concerning a potential move for Gabriel Martinelli, with any transfer for Osimhen expected to be handled independently.

The 27-year-old Osimhen has emerged as one of Europe's most sought-after center-forwards following a strong performance in Istanbul last season, where he recorded 28 goal contributions in 33 appearances. He has continued his impressive form into the new season, scoring twice in Galatasaray's Super Lig opener.

Galatasaray acquired Osimhen from Napoli for €75 million in July 2025, signing him to a four-year contract with a substantial net salary and image rights package. The club's president, Dursun Ozbek, confirmed the deal lacks a release clause, necessitating direct negotiations with the Turkish champions. Galatasaray has reportedly valued Osimhen at approximately €150 million, having previously rejected a €130 million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. If Arsenal secures him for £60 million, Osimhen would likely become their highest-paid player, surpassing his current earnings in Turkey.
