Man with 20 prior offenses arrested for RM14,000 gold chain robbery in Cheras

Authorities in Cheras have arrested a local man with an extensive criminal history, including 20 previous offenses and four drug-related convictions, in connection with a gold chain robbery. The incident, which occurred on April 12, involved the theft of a gold chain valued at approximately RM14,000.

The suspect, described as being in his mid-30s, was apprehended on May 24 in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, as a result of police intelligence and investigation. According to Cheras District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Rosdi Daud, the robbery took place around 8 a.m. when the victim and his wife were dining at a restaurant in Taman Connaught.

While the couple was outside the restaurant, a man on a motorcycle allegedly approached from behind and snatched the gold necklace and pendant from the victim. The perpetrator then fled the scene, leaving the victim with an estimated loss of RM14,000.

Following the arrest, police confirmed the suspect's significant criminal record. The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which pertains to robbery. Although police sought a remand order for further investigation, it was denied, and the suspect was released on police bail. The investigation papers have been completed and will be referred for further action.
