Man with two aggravated-robbery arrest warrants detained in San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú

Police detained a 31-year-old street vendor in San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú after a routine identity check revealed two outstanding arrest warrants in an aggravated-robbery case.

Authorities identified the man as Vicente Ramón Bernal Benítez, a resident of the Virgen de Fátima neighborhood in the departmental capital. Officers from the First Police Station made the arrest during a verification operation.

A check of the National Police computer system showed warrants issued in March and November 2025. Both came from the San Pedro Criminal Enforcement Court in a case titled “Public Prosecutor’s Office v. Vicente Ramón Benítez and Héctor Espíritu González Insfrán over aggravated robbery.”

According to the police account, officers were on preventive patrol when they saw a man acting suspiciously. They stopped and identified him, then confirmed the pending warrants. Officers informed him of his constitutional rights before taking him into custody.

He was first taken to the San Pedro Regional Hospital for a medical examination and then transferred to the police station’s secure cell. Police said he remained in free communication and at the disposal of the judicial authorities, who received a written report on the procedure.
