Manchester City agree £65m deal for Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye

Manchester City have stepped into a transfer that Tottenham could not complete, agreeing a deal worth up to £65 million for Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye.

The agreement guarantees Everton £60 million, with a further £5 million available in add-ons. Tottenham had reached a deal with Everton for Ndiaye on Friday night, with Richarlison due to move in the opposite direction in a separate transfer. That arrangement unraveled after the Brazil forward failed to agree personal terms with his former club, despite Everton making a reported £35 million offer.

Richarlison addressed the breakdown in an emotional Instagram statement. “After everything I’ve been through in the last few years, I’ve decided that never again will anyone decide my future for me,” he wrote. He said he had wanted to return to Everton, where he had been happy, but added that the negotiations had taken place only in the way certain people wanted. He also confirmed that he remains under contract with Tottenham.

Tottenham are now in talks to sign Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk on a season-long loan. City’s move for Ndiaye follows the apparent collapse of an £80 million attempt to sign Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo. Liverpool had been willing to sell Gakpo if they could find a replacement, but after signing Bradley Barcola from Paris St-Germain for up to £123 million, the club has struggled to secure another attacker. Liverpool are expected to keep Gakpo unless they revive a winger deal before Tuesday’s deadline.
