Manchester United manager cautious over Mason Mount injury

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is urging caution with midfielder Mason Mount after the England international sustained an injury during the team's 1-1 friendly draw with Paris Saint-Germain.

Mount, who joined United from Chelsea in 2023, was forced off the field less than 20 minutes after being substituted into the match against PSG. He appeared to suffer a leg injury and conferred with coaching staff before being replaced by Tyler Fletcher.

"He took a knock. We just want to be careful and make sure he's alright," Carrick stated. "We've been fortunate that we haven't had too many injuries so far, so we want to continue to be careful."

Despite the concern, post-match footage showed Mount walking to the team bus unaided and without any visible protective equipment for a knee injury.

In the friendly, Manchester United fell behind early to an Ibrahim Mbaye goal for PSG. However, Bryan Mbeumo equalized in the 32nd minute after Amad Diallo won possession and set up the chance. United still has two more pre-season friendlies scheduled against Leeds and AC Milan before the Premier League season commences.
