Mandala Theatre stages The Age of Darkness (Photo Feature)

Mandala Theatre in Thapagaun has commenced its staging of "The Age of Darkness," a compelling production rooted in Dharamvir Bharati's renowned play "Andha Yug." Translated into Nepali by Rajendra Salab, the play is brought to life under the direction of Sudip Khatiwada, who himself made his acting debut in this very production 11 years prior.

The narrative delves into the devastating aftermath of the Mahabharat war, portraying the pervasive influence of violence, the relentless pursuit of revenge, and the profound mental emptiness that engulfs its characters. Through the perspectives of individuals grappling with the war's consequences, the play examines critical themes including power struggles, moral conflicts, and the weight of human responsibility.

"The Age of Darkness" features an ensemble cast of twelve actors, including Jinlop Dong Waiba, Aabhushan Ghimire, Milan Panta, Indra Kumar Limbu, Joheb Shah, Sujit Malla Thakuri, Samata Rai, Bijay Dong, Saugat Shrestha, Raju Shrestha, Nitya Poudel, and Bishwajit Dhakal. The auditory landscape of the play is enriched by original music composed collaboratively by Saurav Chalise, Salina BK, Jeevan Rai, and Kumar Lama.
