Manhunt Ends in Collision: Suspect Injured After Crashing Scooter into Winnipeg Police Cruiser

An investigation is underway after a suspect collided with a Winnipeg police cruiser while attempting to evade arrest on a scooter. The incident occurred Monday evening when officers attempted to apprehend a 50-year-old man wanted on multiple warrants.

The man, who was sought for apprehension and parole suspension, as well as being unlawfully at large, reportedly used a scooter to flee from officers in the 300 block of Logan Avenue. During his escape attempt, he collided with a police vehicle, sustaining injuries.

Following the collision, the man was admitted to hospital in unstable condition. A search incident to his arrest led to the seizure of approximately $1,250 worth of cocaine and $345 worth of methamphetamine, along with $415 in cash.

The 50-year-old suspect now faces a series of charges, including possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and resisting a peace officer. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has taken over the investigation.
