MANO/MONO Festival in Vilnius: Five Encounters with People and Their Stories

Vilnius will host five sharply different theatrical encounters in this year’s MANO/MONO festival, with each production placing one actor alone at the center of the stage.

The solo performance festival, now being held for the third time, is scheduled at the Lithuanian Theatre Union hall from September 7 to October 5. It is described as the only festival of its kind in the Lithuanian capital.

The programme moves across contrasting subjects and emotional registers. One performance tells a painful young person’s story, while another examines the complicated life choices of the poet Salomėja Nėris, whose legacy remains controversial. The programme also includes a brighter look at life and a theatrical meeting with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s "The Little Prince."

The final production is based on a true story of a family’s survival during the Holocaust. Together, the five performances present individual lives, experiences and decisions through the concentrated form of one actor and one stage.
