“Many Kazakhs know Montenegro well”: Tokayev meets Milatović

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović held their first official talks in Astana, a meeting Tokayev described as a significant event for Kazakhstan. He expressed confidence that the discussions would invigorate bilateral relations, noting that Montenegro is a well-known and appreciated destination for Kazakh citizens who often return with positive experiences.

We view this visit as a very important event for our country. I am confident that the results of our negotiations will provide a new impetus to bilateral relations. Our compatriots are well-acquainted with Montenegro. Many of our citizens vacation in your country every year and return with positive impressions.

Tokayev congratulated Montenegro on its 20th anniversary of independence and stressed the need to add new substance to the existing good relations between the two countries, pointing to the substantial business delegation accompanying Milatović as evidence of Montenegro's intent to bolster economic ties.

As you have already noted, this is the first official visit of a Montenegrin president to Kazakhstan. I am confident that today we will expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation. This visit demonstrates that our ties are reaching a high level.

President Milatović thanked Tokayev for the invitation, emphasizing that this first official visit by a Montenegrin president signifies a high level of bilateral ties. He stated his belief that the visit would broaden cooperation horizons, with representatives from Montenegro's business community present for a planned business forum and the signing of several memorandums. Milatović also expressed a desire to strengthen economic partnership alongside political cooperation, acknowledging Montenegro's popularity as a tourist destination for Kazakhs.
