Madrid erupted in a sea of red and yellow as thousands of jubilant fans welcomed Spain's newly crowned FIFA World Cup 2026 champions at the iconic Plaza de Cibeles on Monday. The city's central square transformed into the heart of celebrations, with the team parading through the capital aboard an open-top bus.

Left-back Marc Cucurella, who played every minute of the tournament, ignited the festivities by lifting the World Cup trophy and leading supporters in a chant that has since gone viral. Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal also engaged with the crowd, singing along to music and sharing a touching moment when he held up a fan's poster of his younger brother, Keyne.

The atmosphere remained electric as players were introduced individually at Cibeles Square, with captain and Golden Ball winner Rodri receiving a particularly enthusiastic reception. Head coach Luis de la Fuente was then humorously tossed into the air by his players in a celebratory gesture known as 'the bump'. Spain secured their second World Cup title by defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final held in New Jersey. Substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute. The Spanish side dominated the match, controlling 68% of possession and registering 20 shots on target, while limiting Argentina to just four attempts. This victory ends a 16-year wait for World Cup glory and signals the rise of a new generation of Spanish football talent led by Rodri.
