Mark Lamb wins Arizona GOP primary amid misconduct allegations

Former sheriff Mark Lamb secured a victory in the Republican primary for Arizona's 5th Congressional District, according to Associated Press projections. The win positions Lamb to potentially replace outgoing GOP Representative Andy Biggs in the deeply Republican district following the November election.

Lamb, who served as Pinal County sheriff from 2017 to 2024, defeated businessman Daniel Keenan. His campaign, however, has been shadowed by allegations of sexual misconduct. An investigation by the Arizona Republic detailed accusations from several women, including claims of sending explicit messages and nude photos, initiating sexual encounters, and making racist remarks. One accuser also alleged that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mishandled her complaints.
