Market owner shot multiple times in Istanbul attack

A market owner in Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district narrowly escaped a potentially fatal shooting on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:15 PM in the Cennet Mahallesi neighborhood when the owner, identified as Suat B., was attacked by an individual believed to have a prior dispute with him.

Suat B. sustained three gunshot wounds to his legs. The assailant, after firing the shots, fled the scene on foot. Emergency services were dispatched following reports from nearby shopkeepers who heard the gunfire. Paramedics provided initial treatment before transporting the injured market owner to the hospital, where he is reportedly in intensive care.

Local shopkeepers recounted the harrowing event. Mehmet Çebi, a witness, described hearing four shots while heading to a mosque. He saw the assailant walking away casually with the gun, while the victim lay bleeding profusely. "His legs were hit by four bullets, his legs were shredded," Çebi stated, emphasizing the severity of Suat B.'s injuries.

Police have cordoned off the area and are conducting an investigation. Teams from the Küçükçekmece District Police Department are reviewing surveillance camera footage from surrounding businesses in an effort to identify the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice. The motive for the attack is believed to be a personal feud.
