Markgráf Ákos follows the path of world champions and Argentine stars

Hungarian football coach Ákos Markgráf's career path is being compared to that of several international football stars who have experienced swift and sometimes complex club transfers. The article points out similarities in how these players moved between teams, often within short periods and involving significant financial transactions.

One notable example is Marc Cucurella, the Spanish national team player who recently moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid. Previously a Barcelona player, Cucurella was loaned to Eibar in the 2018-19 season. Eibar exercised their option to buy him in the summer of 2019, only for Barcelona to immediately use a buy-back clause for a higher fee, reacquiring his rights before loaning him to Getafe.

Argentine coach Martín Demichelis, now the head coach of Leipzig, also had a notable transfer history. In the summer of 2013, he moved from Malaga to Atlético Madrid within Spain. However, he never played a competitive match for Atlético before being sold to Manchester City, a move facilitated by Manuel Pellegrini, who had also moved from Malaga to City.

Former Olympic champion and World Cup winner Roberto Ayala followed a similar trajectory. In the summer of 2007, he transferred from Valencia to rivals Villarreal on a free transfer. Just two weeks later, Zaragoza bought him out for six million euros. Dietmar Hamann, a Champions League winner with Liverpool, left the club in the summer of 2006 for a free transfer to Bolton, only for Manchester City to pay £400,000 for him the next day.

Even the Cape Verde international Bebé experienced rapid movement. After a strong preseason with Vitória in Portugal in the summer of 2010, Manchester United quickly signed him for a fee significantly higher than Vitória had paid just seven weeks prior. Despite this, Bebé's time at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson was limited, with only seven senior appearances in four years.
