Marseille excluded from Europe, fined 10 million euros

The First Chamber of the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) has decided to exclude Olympique de Marseille from European competitions for the next three seasons, provided the club meets its financial income targets for the 2026/27 season. The French club must also pay a 10 million euro fine for violating Financial Fair Play rules concerning football income for the 2025/26 season.

The CFCB acknowledged the significant and unexpected drop in national broadcasting revenue affecting French clubs during the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons. Despite this, Marseille failed to meet the final objective of its settlement agreement, specifically regarding football income for the 2025/26 period (referring to periods ending in 2023, 2024, and 2025).

In addition to the European ban, Marseille is restricted from registering new players on List A for UEFA competitions in the 2026/27 season. A 6 million euro fine was imposed for this breach. Furthermore, the club was fined an additional 4 million euros for exceeding the 70% squad cost ratio for the 2025 calendar year.

Other clubs under settlement agreements also faced sanctions. Roma exceeded its intermediate target for the 2025 financial year, receiving a 2 million euro fine, plus an additional 4 million euros for exceeding the squad cost ratio. Milan, Monaco, Besiktas, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Antwerp, and Trabzonspor successfully met their targets and exited the settlement regime.
