Massive fires in Caraș-Severin: over 300 hectares of forest and vegetation burned. Two helicopters intervene at Băile Herculane

Multiple large-scale fires are raging across Caraș-Severin county in Romania, burning over 300 hectares of forest and vegetation. Firefighters, forestry workers, and aerial teams are engaged in intensive efforts to contain and extinguish the numerous blazes.

The most challenging operation is underway in the Băile Herculane – Domogled area, within the Domogled – Valea Cernei National Park. Here, flames have engulfed approximately 25 hectares of forest floor and woodland. Due to the rugged terrain, two helicopters from the General Aviation Inspectorate have been deployed to assist. One helicopter landed at the stadium in Herculane to coordinate operations, with the aircraft making numerous water drops throughout Saturday.

Another significant fire is burning in Măru, affecting around 100 hectares. Firefighters have managed to localize this blaze and establish a safety perimeter to protect nearby homes. In Pârvova, within Lăpușnicel, about 60 hectares are ablaze, with seven firefighters and four foresters working to control the flames.

In Reșița's Secu neighborhood, a fire that consumed approximately 55 hectares of dry vegetation and forest litter has been localized. Six firefighters are monitoring the area, where smoke is still rising from dry vegetation and fallen trees. A protective perimeter has been set up to prevent re-ignition.

Only the fire in Rusca Montană, which affected about 62 hectares, has been completely extinguished. Authorities continue to monitor all active fire sites across the county, maintaining a state of alert given the extensive damage already inflicted on hundreds of hectares of forest and woodland.
