Massive Tobacco Bust in Seeb as Customs Foils Illegal Storage Operation

Oman Customs has successfully foiled an illegal storage operation in the Wilayat of Seeb, within the Muscat Governorate, seizing a significant quantity of illicit tobacco products. The operation, conducted by the Compliance and Risk Assessment Department, targeted individuals suspected of smuggling and storing contraband.

Authorities confiscated more than 5,900 cartons of cigarettes and an additional 400 kilograms of tobacco derivatives. These items were found concealed across multiple locations, including a private residence, a commercial shop, and a vehicle. Preliminary information indicates that the individuals involved in the storage operation are of Asian nationality.

The successful bust underscores the ongoing efforts by Oman Customs to combat the illegal trade of tobacco products, which often bypasses tax regulations and can pose health risks. The department's vigilance in monitoring and assessing risks is crucial in identifying and intercepting such smuggling activities.
