Mauro Icardi leaves Turkish football with trophies and records

Argentine star Mauro Icardi is bidding farewell to Galatasaray after a four-season tenure, leaving behind a legacy of goals, trophies, and club records.

Icardi initially joined the Istanbul club on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for the 2022-2023 season. His impressive performance led to a permanent transfer in the summer of 2023 for a fee of 10 million Euros. During his time with the Lions, he became a fan favorite, contributing significantly to the team's successes.

Across his four seasons, Icardi amassed an impressive record of 77 goals in 134 appearances for Galatasaray. He was instrumental in securing multiple titles, including four Süper Lig championships, one Turkish Cup, and one Turkish Super Cup. His goal-scoring prowess was particularly evident in his second season (2023-2024), where he finished as the league's top scorer with 25 goals, playing a pivotal role in the team's championship win.

Despite facing a significant injury in his third season that sidelined him for much of the remainder of the campaign, Icardi continued to contribute. In his final season (2025-2026), he scored 16 goals in 47 official matches across all competitions. Notably, he also made a strong impact in derby matches, scoring 12 goals against rivals Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Trabzonspor in 21 appearances.
