Mayor Tugay opens doors for new cooperation in Kosovo

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay has concluded a series of significant meetings during his working visit to Kosovo, aiming to forge new partnerships. Tugay met with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, four ministers, several mayors, deputy mayors, and the President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce. The visit focused on enhancing economic and cultural ties between İzmir and Kosovo.

We want to take steps for Kosovo to be promoted in İzmir, and İzmir to be promoted in Kosovo.

During his three-day visit, Mayor Tugay, accompanied by a delegation including İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Council Members and representatives from the Kosovo Rumelia Culture, Art, and Tourism Association, held discussions with Turkish Consul General in Prizren, Fatih Topçu. They explored ways to develop relations between İzmir and Kosovo, identifying significant potential for economic cooperation through chambers of commerce, business people, and relevant institutions.

Tugay announced plans to organize "Kosovo Days" in İzmir for a few days in October or November. He also expressed interest in holding "İzmir Days" in Kosovo in the spring, if feasible. These events aim to facilitate cultural exchange and business-to-business meetings, connecting entrepreneurs from relevant sectors.

Consul General Fatih Topçu emphasized the benefits of increasing contacts from the Aegean region, particularly İzmir, to Kosovo. He highlighted the importance of continuing such initiatives to foster sustainable relationships. Uğur Şengöz, President of the Kosovo Rumelia Culture, Art, and Tourism Association, noted their previous successful "Kosovo Business Days" events in İzmir, which brought together Kosovar and İzmir business communities.
